Kadala Paruppu Sundal / Chana Dal Sundal ~ Easy Navarathri Sundal Recipe

Just only 5 more days for Navarathri and most of the Indian blogs are flooding with Sundal & other Navarathri related recipes. I too wanted to share few easy and quick to make sundal recipes here for the occasion. We do not have the custom of celebrating this Nine days Festival. But we lived in an Agraharam for more than 10 years and all the families in that area celebrate it in their own way and almost everyone keep kolu/Golu at their home and i love to watch the Golu settings-the lighting, toys(chettiyar bommai, marapachi bommai, park toys are my fav) and above all the Bakshenam they give on all nine days ;) I really enjoyed going to all the maamis' house to watch the Golu, they only give the bakshenam if we sing or recite slogam :) I don't know whether the maamis still remember us but i never failed to recollect the days where we had so much fun at their homes watching golu and eating all those yummy foods :)
This Kadala Paruppu Sundal is one such easy and tasty sundal with very simple preparation. It just needs boiling chana and a simple tempering, no onions, no coconut in this sundal recipe. Its even a perfect filling and healthy snack for Diabetic people.

Barley Adai / Barley Lentils Crepes / Barley Paruppu Dosa

This is another Healthy Breakfast / Dinner recipe with more nutritional value, rich in protein, fiber, low calorie and filling recipe perfect to kick start anyone's day. Its good for diet and diabetic people too. This is one of my recent experiment with Pearl Barley and Mixed lentils combo. Though Pearl Barley is low in protein content compared to the whole grain barley but low in calorie and the addition of lentils like Green gram, Orange lentils/Masoor dal, Tuvar Dal, Channa dal, Urad dal makes it a protein packed meal. The Barley Adai / Dosa is a Instant version it doesn't require fermentation and can be cooked soon after grinding. The dosa turned so crispy and tasty and i served with Kadamba Chutney, which i posted last week. The combo was so good and my kids loved this Barley Adai so much. For a change from regular Dosa & Adai, try this healthy and tasty Barley Adai. And also Pearl Barley are very cheap, healthy and easy to use and also available in all supermarket & Departmental stores. Great nutrition in an less or cheap price.

Mixed Bean N Brown Rice Adai / 15 Bean Brown Rice Adai

I used to make Adai once in a week since its rich in protein and taste and of course my favorite too. Especially Adai with Drumstick leaves. Recently i saw adai recipe in Nalini's blog with Mixed bean n dhal which is even more healthy with the combo of more legumes n lentils. I loved that idea and made it using 15 bean mix and Brown rice. The Adai turned out so tasty, crispy n inner soft and delicious. As i used brown basmati rice, the adai/dosa turned crisp. Its nice to add more legumes n lentils to our diet in a super easy n delicious way. My H n kids loved this protein n fiber rich Adai. Even its good for diabetic & dieting people since its low carb and high protein. Good for breakfast n dinner too. Now to the recipe...

Brown Rice Ragi Idly - Diabetic Friendly Recipes !

Today wasn't in a mood to blog, my knee pain was more and not able to sit and do or concentrate on anything. I feel that i should take some break and look after my health. I was suffering with this knee pain for almost 4 years, yes i fell and got injured during my first pregnancy and that time i took Physiotherapy treatment to relieve from pain and did not diagnose the actual problem. Then after delivery with Infant and second pregnancy this and that...i did not look at my leg pain so far...Yesterday, got appointment and went to hospital and after 2 hours examination, She concluded that my knee got misalignment of ligaments and it can be cured by taking PT and made appointments till April end and hope for the good result. So till that i could not concentrate on blogging and blog hop so planning to take a short break.
Ok will move to today's recipe...Day 6 of Blogging Marathon and today's whole grain recipe nothing but very easy and simple Brown Rice Ragi Idly. I planned to make stuffed idly but because of this knee pain decided to lessen my job and finished with plain idly alone. I often make idly with brown rice and this time for a change added Ragi flour to my Brown Rice Idly batter . It turned out good but compared to idly dosa came out really good. My kids loved idlis more than the dosa.
